Advanced Computers- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn to write their own computer programs using visual languages such as Visual Basic, Visual C# and Adobe Flash.
Business Law- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit
Business Law is a course covering different aspects of law dealing with personal and business transactions. The objectives are to acquaint the student with a knowledge of business law as a safeguard against costly errors in business and personal affairs. The course itself will deal with the origin of law, criminal and tort law, contracts, and bailments. Students aspiring to a major in Business should seriously consider taking this class
Business Math– Grade 11-12 2 Sem. – 1 Credit
Business Math is the study of basic mathematical processes and how they are applied to real world problems. Fundamental math concepts are presented with a list of terms and definitions, and drill practice for reinforcement. Content includes a review of life skills such as banking activities, wages and salaries, retail applications, pricing, depreciation, credit, ratio and proportions, metrics, and investments.
Computer Concepts- Grade 9 Recommended, Grades 10 -11- 12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit
The course will cover computer terminology, history, hardware, system and application software, operating systems, file management, document creation, using the Internet and on-line policies and procedures. This course must be taken prior to all other computer courses.
Computer Repair- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn about hardware and software as they relate to being able to repair and build their own PC.
Desktop Publishing- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prerequisite: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn the finer points of print and web document production using Adobe PhotoShop and other layout tools.
Digital Video Editing- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn to create electronic presentations using computer slides and videos. Extensive use of scanners, digital cameras, and video/sound equipment will be necessary for completion of projects. Students do not need to have their own cameras or video/sound equipment.
General Business- Grades 9-10-11-12 2 Sem. - 1 Credit
In the General Business course, the student will become familiar with how a business functions and the relationship between business and consumer within a capitalistic system. Topics include: Organization of Business, Money and Banking, Use of Credit, Insurance, Taxes, Time and Money Management, and Wise Buying Techniques, and Supply and Demand.
Keyboarding- Grades 9-10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit
This course is designed for the students who wish to become competent on the computer keyboard. Skill development, such as correct fingering, is taught the first nine weeks, but is stressed throughout the semester. This will be accomplished via use of a specialized computer program that monitors progress and efficiency for each key. During the second nine weeks, the student will learn the proper way to format documents such as reports, term papers, personal and business letters, resumes, and applications for employment
Spreadsheets & Database- Grades 9-10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn electronic spreadsheets, charting and graphing, and relational database development. Detail will be given to the software features in order to create, edit, combine, search, sort and format information.
Web Page Design- Grades 10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Passing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Students will learn how to make custom websites and prepare online documents such as PDF files.
Word Processing- Grades 9-10-11-12 1 Sem. - ½ Credit (Prereq: Pasing Grade in Computer Concepts)
Word processing skills will be taught along with software features, document creation, editing, formatting, templates, merging, and desktop publishing.
